No More Excuses: Why Lenders Need to Embrace Document Management

Lenders and Borrowers are always trying to be more efficient, move a little faster and, in general, be more amazing at what they do. If your business life isn’t organized, kicking your business into high gear won’t be easy. The truth is the more organized you are, the more available you are to focus on creative endeavors within your business as well as the growth of yourself and your business. No matter what side of the coin you are on, if you feel like your business is not where you want it to be then you need to make a change. This is true at any stage of your business.

So cut the clutter and get your business in order -- ASAP. Here are a few ways to get started in the right direction.

Set a goal for the whole team

If you’ve got a list of to-do’s a mile long, then you need to decide which ones are wants and which are needs. If you have issues that are directly going to affect the operations of your business, you need to get those done. Set a goal and make sure those goals are realistic. Give yourself and everyone else a timeline, and if at all possible make someone help you be accountable.

Say goodbye to as much paper as you can

Years ago having big binders of information was commonplace. These days having stacks of files all over your house and in your office is a pretty outdated business practice. If you can, make sure your business is using as little paper as possible, you’ll feel more organized and less stressed because you have less clutter to manage. Plus the bonus is you can easily share those files with others.

Work smarter, not harder

Look at the scope of your daily activities and make an effort to reorganize your business and if needed, yourself.  Sometimes, it's the way you start your day or that you have too many distractions that are causing you not to be productive.

Simple things like creating folders on your computer to support how you structure your business or using checklists are a few ways to make the most out of your systems but you have to set standards for how they should be used by everyone.

Email is a massive example of a way many people get off track. As you answer new emails, move the email out of your inbox to the appropriate folder for that stage of your engagement with it. This will help keep you focused on the things you have not done yet and will let you be a little less scared of your inbox. Contain and organize the chaos and make it work for you.

Take a risk!

If there is something that has been holding you back in an area of your business, then do it, even if it means taking a risk. Change is not easy, but it can be highly productive. It’s okay to be better than you already are, but it’s sometimes hard to make that jump into the unknown.

This could mean something as simple as hiring someone to help you manage your business even if it means you might not be saving money in the end. It can also mean taking a risk on a new project or change to a new way of doing things. Don’t be afraid to think big so you can aspire to new heights.
